The bronze bust of Henri IV, Duke of Vendôme and King of France was completed in 1995 by André Henri TORCHEUX (1912-1998), a Parisian sculptor who resided in the Loir valley.

The sculpture looks toward the two towers where, in 1589, he led a victorious assault against his own castle then in the hands of the Catholic League. Between the 12th and the 14th century, these towers had strengthened the defensive system of the medieval fortress at a time when Vendôme passed alternately into the hands of Henri Plantagenet and Philippe Auguste then protected itself from the English during the Hundred Years War.
